Guidelines for sustainability

Work on climate, nature, social conditions and corporate governance is central to our business, investments, products and operations. Our sustainability principles, guidelines and reporting systems governs this practice.

Principles

Pension assets, savings, financing, and insurance can be powerful tools in addressing global challenges. As a major asset owner and manager, we see significant financial opportunities in companies and solutions that contribute to solving these challenges.

Storebrand is a signatory to the UN Global Compact, the UN’s principles for responsible business conduct. These principles form the foundation of our sustainability framework. We support the UN conventions on human rights, the UN environmental conventions, the ILO core conventions, and the UN Convention against Corruption. We also support and adhere to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).

Guiding principles

Storebrand has a dedicated sustainability policy that defines responsibilities across different areas of sustainability work. The following principles form the basis for our sustainability efforts in our own operations:

  • We integrate sustainability into our processes and decision-making at all levels – from the boards and Group Executive Management, which hold overall responsibility, to each manager and employee.
  • We are a responsible employer, committed to promoting diversity and inclusion among our employees.
  • We maintain a transparent governance structure in line with national and international standards for corporate governance.
  • We comply with applicable regulatory requirements as well as voluntary commitments we have adopted.
  • We actively work to prevent socially harmful activities and criminal acts in connection with our operations.
  • We set high standards for information security, both internally and for our suppliers, to prevent criminal activity and protect customers and employees from harm.
  • Our marketing is clear, transparent, and not misleading, particularly in how we communicate about our sustainability efforts and recognitions.
  • We continuously work to reduce the environmental impact of our own operations.
  • We actively promote internal understanding and knowledge of sustainability among employees.
  • We are open and transparent about our sustainability work and the results we achieve.
