The world premiere of the electric self-driving passenger ferry Zeam has been tested in Stockholm!

New mobility patterns make up a central part of smart urban development, including quite literally testing new waters. The concept of autonomous city ferries is developed with technology that has been tested by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway in 2017. The driverless electric boat MilliAmpere laid the groundwork of safety testing by running a 100-meter transition between Ravnkloa and Vestre Kanalhavn in central Trondheim.

Zeam is the third-generation autonomous electric boat, which has been created in a collaboration between the Norwegian shipping company Torghatten AS and Zeabuz, a pioneer in maritime self-driving technology. I got my enthusiastic colleagues in #TeamSolutions with Nader Hakimi Fard and Ellen Grieg Andersen and #TeamRiskAndOwnership with Victoria Lidén on board to test this new technology.

Electric battery operation with a solar panel on the roof made the journey between Kungsholmen and Söder Mälarstrand across Riddarfjärden noiseless "smooth sailing" with no emissions.
